Procedure:

Electrical Regulators: Electrical regulators convert some of the electrical energy into heat energy as electricity travels long distances through the copper wires that are wound on an iron core. As a result, the fan does not get full power and the rotation/speed of the fan decreases. The basic electricity consumption remains the same. That is, even if the fan speed decreases, the power consumption does not decrease. The regulator wastes power as heat energy, causing the fan to draw less power and spin slower.

Electronic Regulators: Electronic regulators are made using a variable resistor, one or more fixed resistors, triacs, and capacitors. Triac plays a major role here. A thyristor-type electronic switching device is made with fixed resistors, capacitors, and a variable resistor along with the triac. It basically slows down the fan speed by very fast switching i.e. switching the connection on and off. Supplies the amount of power you set and the regulator itself dissipates very little power. Reducing the speed of the fan reduces the power consumption.
